Colombian Man Caught Smuggling Cocaine Capsules Under Toupee at Cartagena Airport

A Colombian national was apprehended last week while attempting to board a flight from Cartagena to Amsterdam with 19 cocaine-filled capsules concealed under a toupee, authorities confirmed on Monday (February 24).
Brigadier General Gelver Yecid Peña Araque, commander of the Cartagena Metropolitan Police, stated that the arrest followed a routine profiling procedure, which led to the discovery of the illicit substances. The seizure prevented the distribution of over 400 doses of cocaine, with an estimated street value exceeding €10,000 in the international market.
The suspect has been handed over to the Attorney General’s Office and faces charges related to drug trafficking, manufacturing, and possession of narcotic substances. Authorities continue to intensify security measures to curb illegal drug smuggling operations.
