Washington, D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the introduction of a new "gold card" visa for affluent immigrants, priced at $5 million, offering them the right to live and work in the United States with a pathway to American citizenship.

Speaking at a press conference at the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump stated that the sales of these gold cards would begin in approximately two weeks. He suggested that millions of these high-priced visas could be sold, providing a boost to the U.S. economy. The initiative is expected to attract wealthy investors and entrepreneurs who can contribute to job creation and business development.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed that the new visa scheme would replace the existing EB-5 immigrant investor program, which currently grants green cards to investors who commit significant funds to U.S. businesses.

“We're going to be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. We're going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million,” Trump stated, emphasizing the exclusivity of the program.

Trump highlighted that the proceeds from the gold card sales could help reduce the national deficit. However, details of the application process and how the program will function remain unclear, with the president promising to reveal more in two weeks.

“A lot of people are going to want to be in this country, and they'll be able to work and provide jobs and build companies,” Trump added. “It will be people with money.”

The gold card initiative is expected to spark debates on U.S. immigration policies, particularly regarding the balance between economic investment and equitable access to residency opportunities. More details on the program’s implementation and potential impact will be closely watched in the coming weeks.
