Starlink Launches Satellite Internet Services in Oman
Starlink, the low-orbit satellite technology offering high-speed broadband internet, has officially launched its services in Oman. The primary objective of Starlink is to provide fast, reliable internet access to areas that traditionally lack access to high-speed connections.
Starlink Muscat is set to cover the entire geographical expanse of the Sultanate of Oman, offering internet speeds that can reach up to 100 Mbps. In addition to this, the service will offer innovative solutions for connecting telecom towers in areas with challenging terrain, thus supporting the country’s digital transformation efforts.
The launch is expected to serve a variety of key economic sectors, including oil and gas, mining, tourism, and agriculture. With its wide coverage and high-speed capabilities, Starlink Muscat will enhance the digital infrastructure across the nation, contributing to the growth of these vital industries.
This new service is also poised to increase competition among licensed telecom providers in Oman, offering consumers more options and improved service quality. Starlink’s entry into the market will help foster a stronger digital environment, benefiting businesses and residents alike.
In line with this development, it is important to note that on June 20, 2023, Royal Decree No. 42/2023 was issued, granting Starlink Muscat S.A.O.C. a Class 1 license to establish and operate a satellite communications system to provide fixed public telecommunications services in Oman.
With the launch of Starlink in Oman, individuals and businesses across the Sultanate will now have access to cutting-edge satellite internet technology, contributing to the continued growth of the nation's digital landscape.
