A massive fire caused by a gas pipeline leak forced residents to flee their homes and left over 100 people injured during Eid celebrations near Malaysia’s capital on Tuesday, fire officials confirmed.

🔸 Leak Stretching 500 Metres: The inferno, visible from kilometres away, was caused by a gas pipeline leak spanning approximately 500 metres (1,600 feet), according to fire officials in Selangor state, near Kuala Lumpur.
🔸 State-Run Pipeline: The affected pipeline belongs to Malaysia’s state-run oil firm Petronas, and its valve has been shut off to prevent further damage.

Eyewitness Accounts
Residents were celebrating Eid when they were suddenly forced to evacuate.
Nizam Mohamad Asnizam (49), who lives 100 metres from the fire, described the terrifying scene:
"When I woke up, I saw the fire raging, with an extraordinary sound. It felt like a jet engine was next to me. The heat was unbearable—like stepping on a hot wok."
Dramatic Footage & Emergency Response
Dashcam footage shared online captured a fireball shooting into the sky, resembling a powerful explosion.
Videos from nearby areas show melted cars, scorched trees, and smoke-covered streets as the flames raged in the background.
Selangor Chief Minister Amirudin Shari announced that a temporary relief centre has been set up at a nearby mosque to assist displaced residents. He urged the public to stay away from the disaster zone while investigations and rescue efforts continue.
