An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter Scale rattled Pakistan early Wednesday morning, with tremors felt in multiple regions across the country. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the earthquake struck at approximately 2:58 AM (IST).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) identified the epicenter of the quake as being located 65 kilometers east-southeast of Uthal in Balochistan, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

This earthquake is not an isolated event, as Pakistan has experienced notable seismic activity this year. On February 28, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook the country, with its epicenter located within Pakistan. Earlier, on February 16, tremors were also felt near Rawalpindi, with the epicenter situated 8 kilometers southeast of the city, at a depth of 17 kilometers. These tremors were also experienced in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Thankfully, no reports of injuries or casualties have emerged from the latest quake. However, the timing of the tremors is noteworthy, as the world has been witnessing the devastating impacts of earthquakes elsewhere. Last week, a catastrophic 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, claiming over 2,700 lives and injuring thousands more. The disaster, which occurred on March 28, was felt as far as Bangkok and parts of India.

In Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, a building collapse caused by the tremors led to at least 30 fatalities. The widespread destruction across affected areas has prompted urgent relief efforts as the region continues to deal with the aftermath of these powerful quakes.
