Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower has rolled out an automated system designed to verify the academic qualifications of individuals applying for work permits, including expatriates, GCC nationals, and bidoon workers. This move comes after authorities uncovered several instances of fraudulent academic certificates submitted by applicants.

The new system, which is integrated with the Ashal portal and Sahel Business app, will meticulously verify academic credentials before any work permit is issued. Marzouq Al Otaibi, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, issued a circular confirming the implementation of the system.

The verification process focuses on three key elements: the authenticity of the academic degree, the field of specialization, and the accreditation status of the qualification, all in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s standards.

This measure is part of Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to ensure the integrity of its labor market by only issuing work permits to individuals who meet the required academic qualifications, thus preventing fraud and bolstering the regulatory framework surrounding work permits.
