In a rare cross-border advance, Russia's Ministry of Defence announced on Sunday that its forces had captured a village in Ukraine's Sumy region. The statement revealed that a unit from the North group of forces had successfully carried out offensive operations, leading to the liberation of the village of Basovka, which is located near the border with Russia's Kursk region.
The village, referred to by its Russian name Basivka, has now reportedly fallen under Russian control. This development marks a significant shift in the ongoing conflict, as such incursions into Ukrainian territory near the border have been relatively infrequent.
