Dubai will have six 'smart' police stations next year

The Dubai Police on Wednesday announced a plan to open six 'fully smart' new police stations, spending Dh291million, at different locations in Dubai next year.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, revealed the details about the new stations at a press conference attended by Major-General Mohammad Saeed Bakheet, Director of General Department of Services and Equipment Manager. Al Mazeina said that two new stations will be constructed in Al Khawaneej and Al Aweer and the remaining four will be replacements, which includes Bur Dubai police station.

He added that some of the projects would finish in 9 months and others in one and half year.

He noted that the police stations will have multiple sections, including detentions cells for women and men, administrative offices, warehouses, and offices for the rescue team at the centres.

He said that Dh110million will be spent for Bur Dubai police station, the first project to be completed. Al Mazeina said that the new police stations will have unified smart surveillance systems.

Al Mazeina highlighted green standards taken into account in designing the centres, which will be provided with "energy star" service, showing the amount of energy consumed by the buildings.
