Nurse refused to leave 8 babies in burning nursery

A nurse rescued eight babies from getting burnt to death in a fire that broke in Jazan Public Hospital last Thursday.

This story went viral on social media, and hundreds of people praised her for her brave act.

Details of the story shows that the nurse was in the hospital nursery with her friend at around 1am when they smelled the smoke and saw security guards running in corridors and asking them to evacuate the floor.

The nurse said that she was horrified when she saw the flames coming close to them and saw her colleagues crying. But then she knew that she has to be brave and rescue the babies.

She managed to break the glass of the nursery with her friends, and there were seven babies inside. She took a blanket and put four babies in it and gave them to a staff and asked him to leave the place immediately. Then she gave two of her colleagues’ one baby each to carry out, and carried one baby herself.

While leaving, the brave nurse remembered that there is another baby in the ICU of the nursery. She went back, and knocked the doors to get the attention of the staff at the ICU who were unaware of the fire. The staff there managed to take the baby who was admitted at the ICU and leave the place.

Because of this nurse, eight babies’ lives were saved.

Many urged the Minister of Health to honour this nurse for her brave act, and said that she deserves to be promoted for what she did.

Sara, a Saudi woman said that the quick and brave act of this nurse saved the babies from death. “She is an angel, and she must be rewarded for what she did.”

Fahad, another Saudi man said that many staff members ran away from the wards when they saw the fire instead of helping the patients who were hospitalized. “This nurse did not think about herself and thought about the babies. She even went back to get the baby from the ICU. She is a hero. If we had many like her that night, then the number of deaths would have been much lower.”
