'Smart Car' to inspect labour work sites
The UAE has decided to extend innovation initiatives by its leaders to labour field inspection when the Ministry of Labour launches a smart inspection car in 2016.
The car, which was unveiled in November, is equipped with the latest technologies and its functions involve inspection of companies and labour sites in the UAE.
The smart vehicle is part of innovation initiatives launched by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who declared 2015 as a year of innovation. It is also in response to initiatives by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
"This is a future inspection car," said Khalid Al Saeedi, director of infrastructure at information technology division at the Ministry.
"The vehicle's functions are based on an integrated smart data system…even its design shows that it is a car with smart applications and future functions."
Al Saeedi, who had proposed this car, said it involves three main systems – smart inspection, smart inspector and a central control room.
He said inspectors in the car can receive information and instructions from the central system through a computerized data system inside their vehicle.
"This system will help the inspectors in doing their job better and more efficiently - it will also help them stay in touch with the central control room and allow them to send inspection reports to their superiors on time and stay in touch with their colleagues to discuss any developments on the spot," he said.
He added that the vehicle is also equipped with smart screens and cameras and that it would be backed by a pilotless plane to take remote photographs.
