Woman wins court case against father to marry her colleague
UAE : An Emirati woman won a court case against her father to marry the man she was in love with.
Details of the case showed that the 30-year-old woman was in love with the man who worked with her in the same office. However, her father refused to allow her marry him as he did not fit their social status and class.
The girl tried to convince her father for a long time that the man was good and educated with good personality and would be a good husband to her, but the father refused to allow her marry him.
This made the woman file a court case against her father and she wanted the court to allow her get married to her colleague without the permission of her father.
The Court of First Instance’s verdict was in favour of the girl as it ordered to appoint a judge from Sharia Court to be the guardian of the woman and facilitate her marriage to her colleague.
However, the father went to the appeal court which ruled in favour of the father.
Then the woman went to the Court of Cassation, which then upheld the Court of First Instance ruling in favour of the woman. The woman then married to her colleague.
