Newborn baby actually 12 years old

An egg that was harvested and fertilised more than a decade back, has finally seen the light of the day in the form of the longest-preserved test tube baby.

A Chinese woman who suffered from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOD) and other fertility issues decided to have her embryos frozen way back in 2003.

At that time, the doctors harvested 12 eggs and fertilised them with her husband's sperm. She had one baby after she was implanted with a couple of embryos. The rest that were considered viable were preserved.

Now that China has relaxed the one-child policy, the woman gave birth to her second son.

The baby was born 12 years after surviving as a frozen embryo, reports China Daily.

This case gives hope to millions of couples facing fertility issues.
