Ben Carson drops out of US presidential race
Ben Carson has officially dropped out of the 2016 presidential race.
The former neurosurgeon made the announcement during Friday’s Conservative Political Action Conference. Carson also told supporters that he’s been named the new chairman of My Faith Votes, a Christian group dedicated to getting out the vote in November.
"Even though I might be leaving the campaign trail, you know there’s a lot of people who love me, they just won’t vote for me. But I will still continue to be heavily involved in trying to save our nation,” Carson said on Friday.
Shortly after Carson's announcement, the nonprofit Christian group released a statementto Fox News announcing their new national media campaign.
"In the last four presidential elections, an average of less than five million votes separated the major candidates. Yet, more than 25 million Christians didn't bother to even show up at the polls in 2012,” said My Faith Votes President Sealy Yates.
“We are committed to making sure that every Christian in America is engaged in this election cycle.”
