Ministry bans outdoor work

Makkah : Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Labour's Makkah branch has banned outdoor work due to the severe weather conditions and sandstorms currently sweeping the region.

Labor inspectors visited projects currently underway and instructed project managers to suspend outdoor work until the weather improves.

Inspectors told business owners in Jeddah to take precautionary measures to protect the safety and health of workers, as well as raise their awareness of climatic conditions.

Inspectors gave notices to transport workers to head indoors or find safe sites and stressed that those employers flouting the ban would face strict penalties.

The ministry aims to reduce costs that stem from material loss and work injuries while also increasing productivity by providing safe work environments for employees in the Kingdom.

The ministry also urged stakeholders to submit inquires or voice complaints related to occupational safety and health by contacting the care service on 19911.
