Ministry to punish, fine firms forcing workers to work in bad weather
Jeddah : The Ministry of Labor has stressed that business owners must take necessary precautionary measures to protect their workers, especially those working in the open.
It also said that business owners should prevent their workers from working during bad weather conditions.
The ministry will start field inspections to ensure that such measures are implemented.
If business owners fail to adhere to safety measures specified by the ministry, they will face punishment and fines, according to a ministerial decision that obliges them to provide safety to workers.
The ministry urged locals and expatriates to call 19911 if they document any violation of safety and security measures.
Isam Al-Omari, an investor in the transportation sector, said that they left the decision to their drivers on highways to either stop or continue with low speed.
Khaled Ali, a supervisor at a contracting company, said that they take the necessary precautionary measures during bad weather conditions.
