KLM honors Saudi doc for help on board flight

Riyadh: Royal Dutch Airlines has honored a Saudi doctor for his humanitarian stance after he rescued a Saudi passenger on a Dammam–Amsterdam flight. The airlines presented him with a free ticket and a letter of appreciation to show its gratitude.

The doctor, Mohammad Waleed Al-Omari, was on his honeymoon in Paris. He was on a KLM flight on March 14 when the cabin crew sought the help of a doctor or a paramedic on board. Al-Omari introduced himself and was guided to a 40-year-old Saudi passenger who was having severe headaches and sickness. He dealt with the case according to first aid procedures until her condition stabilized.

The stewardess asked the doctor to write a report about the case and to list his personal information as well as his e-mail so that they could communicate with him.

Two days later, he received a letter from the executive director of customer service in the KLM for the Middle East and Africa.

The e-mail included an appreciation letter and a free airline ticket.
