School gives pupil, 16, honeymoon break
Manama: An intermediate school in Saudi Arabia has given one week off to one of its pupils to enable him to celebrate his honeymoon.
The principal has also postponed the class exams of Ali Al Qissi, 16, until he goes back to school following the marriage celebrations.
Ali celebrated his marriage in Tabuk in northern Saudi Arabia on Tuesday evening with great fanfare, wearing the traditional Gulf clothes for grooms, and sitting with his young classmates, teachers, school staff and relatives.
The groom said that he was elated to get married and expressed gratitude to the school management for giving him the one-week holiday and for putting off his exams, Saudi news site Sabq reported on Wednesday.
He said that he was happy to see his teachers and classmates at the wedding and that he wished them success.
The school staff said they shared his happiness and wished him a successful married life.
“All the teachers at Al Hijra intermediate school have joined me in attending the marriage of our eighth grade student Ali,” Abdul Rahman Al Atwi, the principal, said.
“We offered him and his father our heartfelt congratulations. Ali is well-known in the school for his involvement in students’ activities and for his keen interest in improving his skills and aptitudes. He is a good example of the polite student,” he said.
