Non-Saudis to be barred from working in human resources

Riyadh: The Ministry of Labor is moving toward issuing a decision that bans the employment of non-Saudis in human resource units at private sector establishments, saying it will inflict harsh punishments on violators by imposing a fine up to SR20,000 for each worker.

The ministry published the draft law, which stipulates the ban on assigning any tasks related to employment and human resources to non-Saudis, on a portal it created to receive the comments and participation of businessmen, and those interested in decisions it intends to take.

The ministry stated that any notes and opinions can be received 20 days from now, and before it passes it as a law.

The general supervisor for public affairs at the ministry, Naif Nayta, said the decision aims to limit all employment and human resource jobs to Saudis, and bans establishments from assigning any of the tasks of employment, human resources and employment officials to non-Saudis, whether directly or indirectly, or doing any of these tasks under any job name.

Nayta said that violating establishments will be penalized as stipulated in the ministerial decision, reported Al-Hayat.
