49% of jobs reserved for women in health sector remain vacant

Dammam : A whopping 54 percent of jobs in the health sector are vacant despite the large number of applicants. Currently, there are 1,510 vacant jobs out of the total of 2,772 offered by the ministry recently.

Out of 578 openings for male doctors, 163 remain vacant. Of the 385 jobs opportunities allocated to female doctors, 242 are yet to be filled. This indicates that either there is a lack of interest among qualified personnel due to the nature of the positions in general, or because many of them were in remote areas.

According to the Health Ministry’s data, there are a number of reasons behind the lack of interest. Among these reasons is that many of these vacancies are not in cities. Besides. many of the applicants are not qualified for specialized medical jobs.

According to the vacancies which were announced recently, there were 218 jobs for pharmacists. Out of this, 141 were for men which are now fully occupied.

There were also 77 jobs for female pharmacists, out of which six remain vacant. Out of the total 1,463 health specialists’ jobs available, 552 were for men, out of which 489 are yet to be filled. There were also 911 jobs for female health experts of which 608 are still vacant. 102 job vacancies were for technicians, out of which 61 are for men and are not yet occupied. Forty one of these were for female candidates out of which two are still vacant.

The data has also revealed that in certain cases, women were also not fully prepared to apply for the positions that were being offered by the ministry.
