Indian butcher kills worker in Dubai, stabbing him 19 times

Dubai : A butcher stabbed a compatriot worker 19 times in what he claimed was an attempted sexual assault, a court heard on Monday.

According to prosecution records, the 27-year-old Indian, A.S., stabbed the victim in the head, chest, abdomen and back with such intensity that the knife broke. He brought another knife and kept stabbing the victim. He only left when the victim was motionless.

A.S., who has been charged with murder, did not attend the hearing in the Court of First Instance on Monday.

The forensic doctor said it was the first time he ever saw somebody stabbed in the head in that way. "It only shows the defendant's determination to kill the victim. He stabbed him in the head and the knife cut through the skull bones and brain tissues. Any of the deep stab wounds inflicted on the victim could have been sufficient to end his life. "

The incident was reported to Al Qusais police station on January 19.

A police lieutenant quoted A.S. as admitting to have killed the victim after the latter allegedly insisted on having sex with him. "A.S. claimed the victim threatened to kill him if he did not let him have sex with him," the officer said.

A.S. admitted to have locked the door and throwing the key in the toilet. The knives were disposed of in two garbage bins.

A police major said he could not enter the victim's room as the floor was covered with blood.

"The room was all in a mess. The body was wrapped in a blanket under his bed. We tracked A.S. at his workplace after his fingerprints were found on the fridge in the room."

The Bangladeshi security guard of the accommodation said the victim's workmates went to check on him after he was missing from work. "He did not answer the door which was locked. I opened it with my spare key and we found blood all over the floor."

They informed the supervisor and the latter called the police.

The hearing has been adjourned to April 25.
