Ford India to recall 42,300 Figo and Figo Aspire vehicles
New Delhi : Automobile manufacturer Ford India on Friday issued a voluntary safety recall for 42,300 of its Figo and Figo Aspire vehicles.
"Ford India is proactively issuing a voluntary safety recall for approximately 42,300 Figo and Figo Aspire vehicles, built at the Sanand plant since launch until April 12, 2016, to correct a software issue with the restraint control module (RCM)," the company said in a statement.
According to the company, the affected vehicles may contain a software error, which could result in the airbags not deploying in certain collisions in which they are intended to deploy.
"Figo and Figo Aspire customers will have a software upgrade carried out free of charge through their Ford dealership," the statement said.
The company further said that a corrective action on all Figo and Figo Aspire vehicles, presently at Ford dealerships, has been undertaken, leading to a resumption of deliveries to customers.
"Ford remains committed to delivering world-class quality vehicles to our customers, and this voluntary safety recall is part of that commitment," the statement added.
