DNA test reveals body found in Sitra is of missing Sadath
Manama: Forensic investigations have revealed that the body found on the shore near Mina Salman port on April 15 is of Sadath Elangattil(40) who was missing since April 13.
It is being discussed whether the body which is decomposed beyond recognition should be taken to Sadath’s hometown in India or to be buried here in the Kingdom where he has been leading an expat life for the past 12 years. Sadath’s brother has arrived in Bahrain from Qatar to assist his uncle Kunjabdulla to help complete the paperworks to repatriate the body.
As part of DNA test at the Salmaniya Medical Complex hospital, a sample of the mouth swab was collected from Sadath’s uncle Kunjabdulla and the test result was intimated yesterday.
Social workers Subair Kannoor, K.T Salim, Basheer Ambalayi and Kareem Kulamullathil were helping the relatives to speed up the paperworks with the help of the Indian Embassy.
Sadath Elangattil was working in Saberah restaurant near LuLu in East Riffa with his uncle Kunhabdulla and was staying in his accommodation near the restaurant when he went was missing since April 13, 6pm.
Sadath hails from Vatakara, Cherandathur in the Indian state of Kerala. Sadath's wife and two children are in India. It is not clear how he died.
