Expat who threatened to blow up Dubai building

Dubai: A jobless Kenyan who threatened Dubai police to blow up a building if not deported was awarded three months in jail and Dh2000 fine for consuming alcohol.

He will also be deported to his country after serving jail term.

On April 17, at 5pm, JM called Dubai Police operation room and threatened to blow up a building in Naif area, where he was staying, if they didn’t deport him.

Police tracked down the mobile phone and located JM.

Three hours later, the accused was arrested near his building. During the search, police did not find anything suspicious in his apartment.

Officers confiscated the mobile phone from which he made the call to threaten police.

He admitted to threaten police to blow up the building because he wanted to go back to his country by any means since he was jobless. JM, 25, was also accused of consuming alcohol and overstaying his visa.

It was later found that the accused arrived in the country on October 18 on a work visa as a security guard.

He was putting up in the sponsor’s accommodation, but overstayed his visa.
