Indian twin brothers murder accused held in Saudi
Riyadh : Police in Saudi Arabia have arrested two Indian men accused of a twin murder in their home country.
Police in the south Indian state of Kerala have initiated steps to bring back the accused, Abdul Safoor who reportedly fled to the GCC country following the crime.
Brothers Kolakkadan Azad and Kolakkadan Aboobacker were murdered by a gang at Kunniyil town near Areekode in Malappuram on June 10, 2012.
The special investigation team (SIT) probing the case found the killings were in retaliation to hacking Atheque Rahman during a football tournament in January 2012.
Azad and Aboobacker were among those named as accused in the Atheeque murder case. They were attacked and murdered when they came out on bail.
The 16th and 17th accused, Mujeeb Rahman and Abdul Saboor had escaped to Qatar. Later in July 2013, Rahman was taken into custody by Interpol from Doha and brought back to Kerala. But the arrest of Saboor was delayed after he went into hiding in Saudi Arabia.
The SIT had filed a charge sheet before the judicial first class magistrate court In Manjeri in June 2012. The charge sheet named a total of 19 accused.
