Two doctors on trial for causing death
Sharjah : The Court of Misdemeanors of Sharjah heard the case of two doctors who have been accused of committing medical negligence causing the death of a woman, reported Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm.
The accused have been identified as R.A, who is the owner of the medical center, and doctor S.H.
The Court confirmed that the death was due to the doctor's breach of medical practice providing treatment in the house without obtaining a license.
In addition, it found that the nurse prescribed medicine to the patient who died later in a hospital of the Ministry of health.
The Court also accused the second defendant of causing an error leading to the death of the woman.
The defendants denied the accusations where they confirmed that the medical center received a call from the daughter of the victim asking for ambulance and they provided that.
The mother was then transferred to a government hospital and died four days later.
The accused said that there was no medical error by them.
Meanwhile the defense lawyer, Hani Al Jasmi, said that the reputation of his clients was completely damaged and the medical center never witnessed any medical negligence.
He added that he will file a lawsuit against the Ministry of Health. His client has been working in the UAE for almost 20 years and never committed any mistake and therefore he asked his client to be acquitted.
