E-marriage contract system ready
RIYADH: The undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for documentation and registration of real estate, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Nasser, revealed that the e-marriage contract will be launched within weeks.
He said its application by the ministry is to protect the rights of the parties to the contract.
He said the statistics on marriage contracts, expected for this year, will be more than 170,000, adding such a number has impelled the ministry to go for e-marriage contracts, including procedures and data to be entered by the couples electronically and verification of fingerprints that will help in the documentation.
The Justice Ministry introduced a program to help marriage contract officials in cooperation with the Weam Society for Family Development under the patronage of Justice Minister Walid Al-Samaani. The Justice Ministry seeks to train 6,533 marriage contract officials. Al-Nasser said the ministry stresses training such marriage contract officials in cooperation with such societies.
He also praised the role of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development in encouraging participation of social development centers and specialized societies in family affairs. Eastern Province Weam Director Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdelqader said marriage contract councilors can build coordinated families through guiding them and bringing them closer together.
“We have 686 social development centers concerned with families and 6,533 contract officials, but unfortunately we have 40,000 divorce contracts that will break families. Fortunately, we have 144,000 marriage contracts that will uphold it and we feel the centers have a big role in creating family stability,” he said.
