Asian man kills colleague, burns body in Saudi Arabia
Riyadh : An Indian worker has been held in Saudi Arabia for killing a colleague and burning his body in an attempt to conceal the murder.
According to a report by Arab News, the incident took place in Al-Faisaliah district, where the worker stabbed his colleague to death before burning up his body.
The murder came to light when Civil Defence personnel responded to a fire in a carpet warehouse in the district, Riyadh Police said.
After extinguishing the fire, they found a burned body, after which forensic examiners and investigators began their investigations.
The body was that of an Indian man in his 40s who worked in the warehouse and, as per initial investigation, was stabbed before being set on fire.
"Investigators learned that the victim had a problem with an Indian co-worker over money. The accused confessed to having committed the murder as the victim was holding his passport because of a debt." - Police spokesperson
The accused also confessed to having stolen Saudi Riyal 3,000, after committing the murder.
The knife used as a murder weapon was recovered and the perpetrator is now being held by the police awaiting trial.
