Saudi King’s brother dies

Riyadh : Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, brother of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has died, a statement from the palace published on the official news agency SPA said yesterday.

Prince Turki, who was born in 1934, was a son of the kingdom’s founder, King Abdul Aziz bin Saud.

Spain announced King Felipe VI had cancelled a three-day visit that was to have begun yesterday. The visit was expected to coincide with the signature of a contract under which Saudi Arabia would buy five warships from the Spanish company Navantia.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has sent a cable of condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud over the sad demise of HRH Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. HM the King offered profound condolences and consolation to King Salman, and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the soul of the late Prince Turki in eternal peace.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, sent similar condolences cables to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

They also condoled with the Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister HRH Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as the Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Premier and Defence Minister, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
