Bahrain observes Martyrs Day today

Manama : Bahrain today observes the second Martyrs Day, which was set by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa last year.

The day was announced as a remembrance of all the soldiers and policemen who were martyred while defending the Kingdom’s peace and security.

The commemoration day was launched as per a royal order by His Majesty King Hamad as a token of gratitude to the brave servicemen of the Bahrain Defence Force, Interior Ministry and National Guard. Observed on December 17 every year, the event is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of Bahrainis who set the best examples of dedication and bravery in serving and defending the nation.

“This is out of our appreciation and gratitude to BDF and the National Guard for their military duties with brotherly and friendly countries abroad since their establishment and for the humanitarian campaigns of the Interior Ministry,” HM the King stated.

Since then, the Kingdom has observed the annual Martyrs Day to remember the sacrifice of the brave Bahraini soldiers who were martyred in battlefields abroad, defending the legitimacy of brotherly countries, and the policemen who sacrificed their lives here in combat with terrorism.
