A royal gift to Pakistan
Islamabad : Pakistan received a New Year gift from the Kingdom of Bahrain as National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa along with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation for King Hamad University for Nursing and Medical Sciences at a ceremony held in Islamabad yesterday.
Representatives from King Hamad University in Bahrain participated in the ceremony.
The Pakistani Premier on the occasion extended thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the Royal gesture to build the university in his country.
The project is being executed as per an agreement signed between the two friendly countries in August 2016, which aims primarily at broadening the scope of bilateral relations and cooperation.
The project is a mark of respect for the visit of HM the King to Pakistan in 2014.
“King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences would be a great symbol of friendship between the two countries and would be established as state-of-the-art institution that would impart world class medical education to its students,” said Javed Malik, Pakistan Ambassador to the Kingdom.
“King Hamad University is a wonderful gift from the King of Bahrain. In addition to an iconic building, it would also bring to Pakistan a world class medical education accredited by the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, University of Nursing, offering graduate and postgraduate programmes in the medical field,” he said.
The Ambassador said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has a vision to raise the level of standards of health in Pakistan and such a project would certainly add value to the vision of the Prime Minister who recently announced plans to build hospitals across Pakistan. He expressed his deep appreciation to His Majesty, the King and the people of Bahrain for this project and said that this shows the depth of strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
