Kidnap ends; Kiddo’s safe

Security authorities swung into action and rescued a kidnapped toddler within one hour after he was abducted from Hamad Town yesterday. The child was later handed over to his mother.

According to an official source, a thief hijacked a car and a baby boy, who was inside the vehicle in Hamad Town. Within no time, the police launched a manhunt to nab the abductor.

Speaking to DT News, the one-year-old Bahraini boy’s uncle Mortadha (who doesn’t wish to reveal his full name) confirmed that the baby’s condition is stable.

Mortadha explained that he entered a bakery in Dar Kulaib Village around 6pm (Roundabout 22, Hamad Town), leaving the baby alone in the car.

“Less than five minutes later, I was shocked to see that my car had vanished with my nephew in it. I immediately called up the police and informed them about the incident,” Mortadha said.

He said that security authorities soon reached the spot and interrogated nearby shopkeepers and customers. “While waiting in Hamad Town Police Station, we were informed by a police patrol that the car was found abandoned less than two kilometers away from the place it was hijacked, close to Roundabout 22,” he said.

“My nephew was in a state of shock and crying hysterically, but fortunately he was not hurt. Police took their measures and took fingerprints from the car. They’re now searching for the perpetrator,” he added.
