Genuine peace not possible without two-state solution: FM
New York : Foreign Affairs Minister yesterday affirmed that the Middle East will not enjoy genuine peace without a just comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, on the basis of the two-state solution. Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, while meeting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said the right solution should guarantee the establishment of a Palestinian state on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The minister also pointed out the need for further regional and international efforts to achieve this settlement, which is in the interest of all countries and peoples of the region. Shaikh Khalid conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister to the Palestinian President.
The minister also conveyed the leadership’s appreciation of the efforts exerted by President Abbas at various forums and at all levels to restore all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people as well as the leadership wishes for the success of those efforts. President Abbas conveyed his sincere greetings to Bahrain’s leaders and took pride in the stances of Bahrain, which has never hesitated to support the Palestinian people and back up their cause and rights.
