Foreign Minister attends OIC meeting

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in the 46th session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Council of Foreign Minister (CFM) which took place yesterday in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, under the theme “50 years of Islamic Cooperation: Road Map for Prosperity and Development.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for hosting this session, thus reflecting their tremendous efforts in serving Islamic issues and enhancing and promoting the role of OIC in establishing peace and security, supporting development and prosperity, as well as addressing various challenges facing the Islamic nation.

The 46th session of the OIC’S Council of Foreign Minister, which coincides with the celebration of the OIC’s 50th anniversary, addresses a number of political, social and economic issues, including ways to strengthen peace and security, countering extremism and terrorism, developing economic coordination and joint cooperation among the Member States. Shaikh Khalid met yesterday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Aidarbekov Chyngyz Azamatovich, on the sidelines of the session.

The minister commended the relations of friendship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kyrgyz Republic, which are developing at all levels. He also stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation and joint cooperation for the common interests of the two countries and friendly peoples. For his part, Aidarbekov Chyngyz Azamatovich stressed the Kyrgyz Republic’s keenness to develop its relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain at all levels, in addition to enhancing joint cooperation on many issues. 

Shaikh Khalid also held talks with Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, Sushma Swaraj. During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed deep-rooted historic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India, which are constantly flourishing and developing. He also expressed the Kingdom’s aspirations to further develop these relations and enhance joint cooperation for the common interest of the two countries and friendly peoples.
