Whatsapp’s ad-free reputation to come to an end next year
At a Facebook Marketing Summit in the Netherlands, Facebook revealed a 2020 launch date for WhatsApp Status ads bringing to end advertisement free messaging application.
Facebook stated that the adverts will be powered by the company’s native advertising system and is aimed at commercializing the app as a business platform.
Tweets regarding this decision have reflected the dismay of many users of the popular messaging app while a minority applauds the decision.
Irrespective of the reaction by the public, whatsapp is set to welcome status bar advertisements in a year.
