Hyundai sales fell in February due to the spread of Corona

South Korean Hyundai Motor said today that its sales decreased 13 percent year on year to 275,44 cars globally in February, amid the outbreak of the Corona virus, which led to disruption of component supplies from China.

Hyundai and its affiliate Kia Motors are ranked fifth globally in the automotive industry. It is the first major company to announce February sales as the virus spreads, showing investors the potential impact on the industry.

On Friday, Hyundai closed a factory in South Korea after it was confirmed that a worker had contracted the virus, affecting the production of famous models of the company, while a factory spokesman said it had been resumed.
