Egypt registers 12 new coronavirus cases on Nile cruise ship

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population and the World Health Organization announced the discovery of 12 positive cases of the new Corona virus (Covid 19) and they did not show any symptoms on board a Nile cruise ship coming from Aswan Governorate to Luxor Governorate.

"The 12 cases were in contact with a Taiwanese tourist of American origin who was on a cruise ship and upon her return to her country, information was received from the World Health Organization and international health regulations on the discovery of her infection with the Corona virus," said Dr. Khaled Mujahid, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population. He pointed out that "the Ministry immediately took, in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organization, to take all preventive and precautionary measures against those in contact with the case and to make the necessary checks."

He stressed that the health status of all those who had contact with her and who was with her on the ship was followed up within 14 days and they did not show any symptoms, pointing out that the analyzes of the (pcr) were performed for them and at the end of the virus incubation period.

The Egyptian official stated that "the cases afflicted with isolation are being transferred to the hospital," noting that "the remaining cases are being subjected to quarantine for another 14 days, which is the incubation period of the disease to monitor their health and check on them."
