5.2 magnitude earthquake hits southwestern Iceland
Reykjavik
An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit southwest Iceland, today, Thursday, according to the country's meteorological office. There were no reports of damage or injuries yet.
This is the strongest earthquake to hit the "Reykjanes" peninsula, which is located southwest of the capital Reykjavik since 2013.
The Met Office has recorded many seismic activities in recent weeks.
The epicenter was about 3.6 km north of the small Grindavik region.
These seismic activities are due to a possible accumulation of lava in "Reykjanes", which led to a rise in the Earth's surface.
