China announced today, Thursday, that the peak of the outbreak of the new Corona virus (Covid-19) in the country had ended, hours after the World Health Organization announced that the disease had become a pandemic.
"The number of new cases continues to decline and the overall situation of the disease remains at a low level," the official Chinese news agency (Xinhua) said, a spokesman for the National Health Commission, Mei Feng, at a press conference in Beijing, adding, "The number of new cases in Wuhan, the epidemic outbreak in Central China's Hubei Province fell to a single number, with only eight cases recorded on Wednesday. No new cases were recorded in other cities in Hubei for a week in a row. "
Only seven new cases were registered on the Chinese mainland outside Hubei, six of them from overseas.
