Apple closes all stores outside Greater China for 2 weeks

LOS ANGELES

Apple, the American electronics giant, announced today, Saturday, that it will close its stores outside what is known as "Greater China", whose number is estimated at hundreds, until March 27, and that it will implement work from home to help limit the spread Corona virus emerging.

The term "Greater China" refers to the provinces administered by the People's Republic of China, including Hong Kong and Macao, and the provinces administered by Taiwan, which is more prevalent in the fields of economy, society and investment.

"The most effective way to reduce the risk of virus transmission is to reduce density and increase the social dimension," Bloomberg News quoted company CEO Tim Cook in a speech posted on the company's website, explaining that this resulted in a decision to temporarily close stores and work from Home outside China.

Apple will temporarily close all of its stores outside China until March 27, and will allocate $ 15 million to help the global recovery.

Apple has about 460 locations outside the world, including 270 stores in the United States.

Apple had previously closed stores in Italy and Spain.
