3 Prisoners died in Turkey with Covid-19

3 Turkish prisoners died from infection with the new Coronavirus, according to what the Minister of Justice said Monday when announcing the first confirmed infections among the convicts.
Minister Abdul Hamid Gul told reporters in Ankara that 17 convicts in five prisons had contracted the virus.
He added, "Unfortunately, 3 of them died while receiving treatment in the hospital."
The authorities are sending some of the convicts to open prisons as the period of their sentences expires, in preparation for their release.
They are given permission to leave for short periods and they have to agree to work, according to the Civil Society Association in the Criminal System.
Gul stated that 13 of the convicted patients were in good condition in the hospital, but one of them was transferred to the intensive care department, indicating that he suffers from chronic diseases.
He did not provide additional details on the whereabouts of the prisoners but stressed that the necessary precautions had been taken in all prisons.
He also indicated that there were no confirmed injuries in closed prisons.
Turkey announced about 57 thousand cases of COVID-19, while about 1,200 died of the disease, according to data published by the Ministry of Health Sunday.
The confirmation of the injuries came before a session of Turkish MPs on Monday to discuss a draft law that would release 90,000 inmates from overcrowded prisons.
Human rights groups have criticized the proposal for not including political prisoners who have been charged under the controversial Turkish anti-terrorism laws.
