Guinea's National Day celebrated at Expo Milano2015

The Republic of Guinea Conakry enjoyed a great "happy birthday" on October 2 at Milan Expo 2015, celebrating its National Day marking the country's 57th anniversary of independence, according to the Italian News Agency (AGI).
It did so to the rhythms of the drums and dances of the folk group Tamara Lampui Troupe who opened the traditional flag-raising ceremony and national anthems.
"Celebrating the anniversary of our independence with the public at the Universal Exhibition is an extra source of pride," said Guinea's ambassador to Italy, Mohamed Cherif Diallo, who congratulated the Italian government on the organisation of the World Exhibition, which he called "one of the most beautiful events of the modern era".

This was first and foremost due to the theme because to aspire to a healthy, balanced diet sufficient for everyone is a challenge that must engage the whole of mankind. Indeed, the diplomat added in his address to the enthusiastic crowd of his compatriots resident in Italy: the theme of Expo is in line with the priorities of our government that focuses its initiative on food security and agricultural development. This could not be otherwise in a country where 85 percent of the active population (mostly women) work in the agricultural sector, which alone accounts for 20 percent of Gross Domestic Product.

To strengthen it further, added Ambassador Diallo:
Our government has adopted a number of reforms to encourage foreign investment, and so we urge stakeholders, especially private businessmen to invest in farming and in the food and agriculture sector, two areas full of opportunity. In particular, Ambassador Diallo guaranteed "the utmost support" to Italians "who plan to open business activities in our country". These words were backed up by the figures that the diplomat reeled off during his speech:

"Between 2010 and 2015 the share of the state budget allocated to agriculture increased from four to 10 percent", while, "the 2013 to 2017 plan for the development of the national agricultural sector was drawn up with the support of FAO". The Commissioner General of Expo, Bruno Pasquino, also stressed the, "huge natural resources and tourist attractions available to the Republic of Guinea", resources "just waiting to be developed, and the World Fair is an excellent opportunity for their enhancement". After the official speeches the delegations paraded along the Decumano road, the backbone of the exhibition site, accompanied by music from the Tamara Lampui Troupe, on their way to the Fruit and Vegetables cluster, which hosts a 125 square-metre exhibition space dedicated to the West African country, AGI reported.
