Australia deports foreign criminals in midst of virus travel bans
Sydney
Australia has used a charter plane to deport 12 foreign-born criminals back to Italy and Britain in the midst of international Covid-19 travel restrictions, the government revealed on Thursday. Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton said the criminals were loaded on to a chartered flight on Wednesday afternoon, adding that the government was in the midst of a "significant push in cancelling the visas of paedophiles and sex offenders." "I honestly believe our country is safer for them not being here," Dutton told radio 2GB on Thursday.
