Australia's virus death toll leaps past 400

Australia's death toll from the coronavirus pandemic leaped past 400 on Monday with 25 Covid-19 related deaths reported overnight in Victoria, a new daily record high. The 25 deaths bring Australia’s national toll from the pandemic to 421. Three in four death are from Victoria which is the epicenter of the second-wave outbreak in Australia.
Victoria’s Health Department reported on Twitter that 282 new virus cases were recorded in the state in the last 24 hours. The new figure indicates a steady decline in new infections since a strict lockdown was imposed in the capital city Melbourne.
