Testing confirmed Tamannah's fears, say reports

 Manama

Popular south India actress Tamannah Bhatia reportedly contracted COVID-19.

She joins the long list of celebrities who have fallen prey to the novel coronavirus ever since the easing of the COVID-19 lockdowns in India.

Reports say she was shooting for a web series in Hyderabad when she fell unwell and showed few symptoms.

The actress is now undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad, Fridaytimes tweeted.

Tamannah earlier in August tweeted the news of her parents contracting the virus.

At that time, she said that her parents were tested and admitted for treatment at the initial stage itself and that she was safe.

India, second only to USA in the COVID-19 cases, now has over 6,623,000 cases. The death toll has climbed to over 102,000, according to the latest tally.

The USA, at the top of the table, has over 7,636,900 COVID-19 cases and over 214,600 deaths.

Oman has become the first state in the Gulf to reinstate ambassador in Syria after they downgraded or shut mission in Damascus in 2012.

Syria’s foreign ministry, state news agency ONA said, accepted the credentials of Oman’s Ambassador Turki bin Mahmood al-Busaidy, appointed to the post in a royal decree in March.

Oman, whose Sultan Haitham pledged when assuming power in January to continue maintaining friendly ties with all nations, kept its embassy open, as did Bahrain.

The United Arab Emirates re-opened its mission to Damascus in late 2018 and has a charge d’affaires there.

Kuwait has said it would re-open its mission in Damascus if there is an agreement in the Arab League, which suspended Syria’s membership in 2011.

The United States has imposed new sanctions aimed at cutting off funds for Assad’s government and warned that anyone doing business with Damascus was also at risk of being blacklisted.
