Be ready for action if needed, China’s Xi tells troops
Hong Kong
Amid the escalation of tension between China and the US, Chinese President Xi Jinping asked Chinese troops to be alert and ready for action if the situation demands. This is widely seen as the country is preparing for war.
During an inspection of the People's Liberation Army Marine Corps in Chaozhou City, Xi told the soldiers to "maintain a state of high alert" and called on them to be "absolutely loyal, absolutely pure, and absolutely reliable." Xinhua news agency reported.
The US previously had revealed its intention to sell three advanced weapon systems to Taiwan, a self-governing which China claims to be part of its territory.
China reciprocated to this in a tone of warning that the US should step back from this deal and called on Washington to immediately cancel the deal. China is also ready to capture the Island using military force. It is at this juncture the US under Trump’s administration is making ties with Taiwan.
