Kuwaiti voters head to polls

Hundreds of thousands of eligible Kuwaiti voters are set to cast ballots in unprecedented parliamentary elections held amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Voters will be electing 50 representatives out of hundreds of male and female candidates who will represent five constituencies, 10 each, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The electoral commission designated five separate polling stations in each of the five constituencies designeeed for Covid-19 patients under quarantine, and who can take temporary permit through "Shlonik" smartphone application to be able to vote.

The health precautions during the voting process include limited groups' gathering outside and inside the polling stations, wearing masks, sterilising hands and wearing gloves. Medical clinics were designated in each centre to preserve the health and safety of everyone.
