More than 20 world leaders and business representatives are to discuss the consequences of climate change at an international summit on Monday.
Among the expected guests is John Kerry, who is to make his first appearance as climate envoy for the new US administration.
Other leaders expected to attend include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Han Zheng, according to Deutsche press agency (dpa).
The Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) takes place upon invitation of the Dutch government but will be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
At the 24-hour summit, leaders are to discuss practical measures for countries to prepare for and shield themselves from drought, heatwaves, rising sea levels and floods.
The Dutch government said an action plan would be adopted at the summit with practical climate solutions.
