Modi hails Padma Awards winners

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the personalities who were conferred the prestigious Padma Awards by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind this year. “We are proud of all those who have been conferred the Padma Awards.
India cherishes its contribution to the nation and humanity at large.
These exceptional individuals from different walks of life have brought qualitative changes in the lives of others,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his Twitter account.
Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are given to individuals for their exceptional and distinguished service in various disciplines and fields of activities. Padma Awards are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
The awards are given in various disciplines, fields of activities, viz. art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.
Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; ‘Padma Bhushan’ for distinguished service of high order; and ‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in any field.
The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
