Saudi Arabia has announced that all employees, workers and operators of Haj must be vaccinated against Covid-19.
In a post on its official Twitter account, the Administration of the Makkah region stated that the decision applies to all workers employed in shops in Makkah and Madina to protect pilgrims who will visit both cities during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The decision will come into effect starting Ramadan 1, 1442 Hijri, it added.
All shop workers must have negative PCR test results to continue operations, the administration said, emphasising that the decision is in line with directions by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah, which aims to protect people from coronavirus.
The announcement is the latest preventive measure undertaken by the Kingdom to safeguard pilgrims.
Earlier this month, the Saudi Ministry of Health had announced that the faithful who wish to perform the annual Haj pilgrimage this year would need to prove they’ve been vaccinated against Covid-19.
