12 injured in Germany as fire rips through foreign workers home

Twelve people were injured after a fire broke out Monday at a building housing mostly migrant workers from Bulgaria and Poland, German police said, adding that there were no immediate indications about the cause of the blaze.

Five of the injured were seriously hurt when the fire ripped through the half-timber building, located in the central German town of Gudensberg.

Germany has been hit by a spate of arson attacks on refugee shelters as the country gears up to host up to a million asylum seekers this year.

It was not immediately known whether the Gudensberg incident was a deliberate act of violence or an accident, police said.
